Today we visited Yik Cafe, which had mocha cappuccinos and cafe con leche, and everything was topped with cinnamon and a mountain of foam. After that, all of the UCF students took a taxi to UNACH to meet with the students, and then we took a bus to Corazon de Maria which was about a half hour away. Once we were there, we were able to meet all of the students we would be working with and we toured the school a little. The school grounds consisted of a few small classroom buildings, two basketball courts, and a little market store. Fields with goats and chickens surrounded the school as well. Each group had their own lesson plans for their age group, but most of us needed to improvise some of our lessons because the students didn't know as much English as we thought. At 2 pm, we all headed back to UNACH on our bus. Kerry, Pooja, Carlson, and Irene visited the market to buy hand-made clothing and jewelry. After that, Dr. Wang, Cecilia, and Shai visited our apartment for dinner: Dr. Wang and Denielle cooked rotisserie chicken, potatoes, rice, and beans. Ash and Denielle both ate a chicken foot! 😮
