ABOUT US
The Burnett Honors College at the University of Central Florida has offered a unique service learning experience working with children learning English in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. This program introduces students to the culture of Mexico while helping youth build empowerment through a partnership with the Language School of La Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas (UNACH) and the nonprofit organization, She Wins Mexico. Our primary project involves teaching English at the secondary school Corazón de MarÃa. Our second project is working with She Wins as an after school sports program, which encourages girls to believe in themselves and their ability to succeed in life.

IRENE TANNER
Irene is a senior in Computer Science at UCF and is minoring in Cognitive Science. She serves as the treasurer for the Women's Ultimate Frisbee club team and the social events director for Artificial Intelligence @ UCF. She hopes to get her PhD in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University and do research in medical image analysis.
